Vision

I am running for re-election because the hard work to improve our schools is never done, and I have the experience and dedication to make positive change. Though our district’s accomplishments are many, I know we need to do more to enhance the education and well-being of our students while at the same time ensuring that our district remains fiscally sound. My vision for further improvement and my focus as a Board member will continue to be:

• Listening to the concerns and questions of community members, whether presented at Board meetings, in emails to the Board, or in conversations around town; responding to those concerns and questions speedily and completely; and informing the community about the reasons for Board actions.
• Interacting with and listening to our ultimate consumers—the students—and grounding every decision with an emphasis on what is best for them.
• Ensuring that every district program focuses on academic excellence, demonstrable by qualitative and quantitative data. 
• Pursuing educational opportunities for all students that will lead to high student achievement and a positive school climate—so students find joy and meaning in their activities at school.
• Ensuring that educational resources, including technology, are used effectively and that technology supports learning rather than replacing or substituting for personal instruction by our dedicated educators. At the same time, we must adopt policies and guidelines for use of digital resources and artificial intelligence, recognizing that these tools are expanding rapidly and our district must be nimble in its response to these changes while remembering that protecting privacy and safeguarding student and staff data must be paramount. 
• Reviewing budgets and overseeing financial and operational matters to ensure that our tax dollars are being spent wisely and effectively.
